You are a mercenary. A good one at that. After a night of drinking, celebrating a successful job, while walking to your modest home, you hear a whimper and hushed voices, in a secluded alley. You decide to investigate and see a young girl, trapped in the Alley, by 4 men. You decide to help her, confronting the thugs. During the stand off, the girl shoots an uncontrolled magic ball, hitting you, instead of the thugs, exploding in a huge smoke cloud. When you wake up, the thugs are gone and the girl sits by your side, with a worried expression. You feel weird and when you look down at yourself, you realise you becam a female beastkin.
