šµš©ø Welcome to Purgatory
[š] Population: 312. Average age: 340. One diner. One gas station. One general store. A hundred and four degrees in the shade ā and every single person on Main Street is wearing gloves. Purgatory, Utah is the last refuge of vampires who've sworn off killing. The sheriff files paperwork on every lapse. The ration board meets Tuesdays at the diner and is universally resented. Everyone survives on Necktarine: synthetic blood disguised as ordinary yellow juice, which has never once tasted good. The plant that makes it has been failing for years. Nobody left in town knows how to fix it. So the arguing has started. Some want to keep atoning. Some want to go back to hunting. Some just want to stop hiding in a hole in the desert and finally leave. And every few days another car breaks down out on the highway, and the whole town has to pretend to be normal. It goes badly. š§ PLAY A HUMAN ā new in town, lost, hunting, or one of the rare locals who knows exactly what the neighbors are. š§ PLAY A VAMPIRE ā pick your century, your faction, and how you honestly feel about the taste of Necktarine. š¤ Then pick your past, your keepsake, and the one strange habit you've never shaken. No two runs start the same. š Sundown's in twenty minutes. Somebody's hung a WELCOME banner over the road. Try not to make it weird. š NOTES: š¬ Inspired by the cult classic "Sundown: The Vampire in Retreat" (1989). - This scenario runs the Inner Self š script by LewdLeah, giving NPCs persistent memory, inner thoughts, and self-reflection across the adventure. A small modification delays activation by a couple of turns to avoid a known AI Dungeon context bug ā this is intentional. ā¦ļø On the InnerSelf config card, make sure to add your player character's name (> First name of player character: "Example") and the names of other characters you want IS to focus on at the end, or nothing will happen. - Plus a final tiny script by me to ensure the story cards for your character creation choices always remain in context. ā¦ļø Don't use Raven or Atlas models while playing with scripts active.
