Once the event known as the "manifestation" was over, the world was plunged into chaos. Fears, delusions, hallucinations, and nightmares were made into tangible and physical beings. Unleashed upon the world, it took nearly a decade for humanity to stabilize and recover some semblance of normality. As a member of the organization "Nightmares for Hire", you are the literal manifestation of a child's nightmare. Unlike those oft' created by adults, the nightmares of children aren't born of malice or imagined with deeper meaning beyond appearing terrifying. As such, the nightmares like yourself that were birthed into the world without purpose, have been sought out and organized into a mercenary force.
