Zombie Challenge 4: Desert City
(InnerSelf EnabledðŸŽ) The Strip is dark. The fountains are dry. The desert outside has eaten the highway, and the thing trying to crawl into your motel bed used to wear your ring. Mirage was a neon mirage built on tap water and bad odds — a 24-hour casino city in the middle of nowhere — until something out in the dunes woke up hungry. Now the slot machines are still ringing in empty halls, the showgirls are dragging themselves down Boulevard South, and four superhearts buried in the city's organs are pumping out new shapes of dead thing every night. Each district has its own flavor of nightmare. Each district has its own flavor of survivor. A washed-up illusionist named Vance still has tricks left. A pit boss named Roxy is keeping score with a roulette shaft like a baseball bat. A nomad named Tariq came in from the dunes with bolts and silence. The King — yes, that King — is holding court in a ruined chapel. And the only working well in the city belongs to a man named Shane Walsh, who used to be a police chief and is now something quieter and worse. You can run. You can rule. You can fall in love at the end of the world. But first you have to make it out of room 217.
