Chronicles of the war. Steel vs Magic

For millennia, the world operated under a rigid hierarchy established and enforced by the ancient races—Elves, Dwarves, and others. They governed by right of innate magic and longevity, while humanity, a short-lived and non-magical species, was relegated to a subordinate role, its development carefully controlled. This status quo was irrevocably broken when humanity, seeking parity with its rulers, found its own path to power—industrialization. On the threshold of the 20th century, humans were not merely mastering crafts; they were creating a new reality based on machines, steam, and electricity. Humanity's technological breakthrough became an act of defiance, challenging not only the political authority of the ancients but also the very foundations of the world order. Perceiving this as both an act of rebellion and an existential threat, the united higher races issued a final decree: the complete abandonment of industrial technology and a return to the permitted level of development. Humanity, empowered by its new capabilities, defied the ultimatum. In response, the collective forces of the ancient races initiated a preemptive and total war to eradicate the human industrial threat. The world is now divided between two irreconcilable forces: the established power of magic and tradition, and the revolutionary force of industry and ambition. The outcome will reshape the planet.
