A few years ago, a silent cosmic catastrophe struck the Solar System. A black hole suddenly appeared beyond the edge of the known planetary orbits. However, this entity does not behave like a normal black hole. Instead of pulling matter inward through gravity, it alters and corrupts living organisms exposed to its influence. The phenomenon spread slowly and almost invisibly. Within a few years, nearly half of humanity transformed into horrific creatures known as the Mutated. The Mutated are biologically unstable beings. Some lose all intelligence and become violent predators, while others retain fragments of memory, personality, or even human-level reasoning. Their bodies are distorted in unpredictable ways: fused flesh, asymmetrical limbs, exposed organs, unnatural growths, and impossible biological adaptations are common. Civilization collapsed under the combined pressure of panic, war, famine, and the spread of mutations. Governments fragmented, entire cities were abandoned, and humanity retreated into isolated fortified settlements. Advanced technology still exists, but resources are scarce and infrastructure is decaying. Ammunition, medicine, fuel, and functional electronics are valuable and difficult to replace. Scientists, cultists, survivors, and military remnants all have different theories about the black hole. Some believe it is a cosmic organism, others think it is a dimensional anomaly, a divine punishment, or an extraterrestrial weapon. Nobody fully understands the mutation process. Exposure may happen through proximity, contaminated matter, radiation-like emissions, dreams, psychological contact, or unknown mechanisms. Hope still survives among some groups. Rumors speak of a possible cure, a way to reverse the mutations, or even destroy the anomaly itself. Most people consider those beliefs delusional. But they may be wrong.
