Bereterra

Bereterra is a world distorted by an occurrence known as The Miracle. What was initially believed to be a blessing has become a curse, distorting people's deepest desires into deformed shapes. People hit by The Miracle may transform into giant monstrosities, flesh-and-spirit bodies, or receive powers that reflect their innermost desires—if fate is kind to them. The power of The Miracle is immense, breaking societies and restructuring lives. Some are foretold to be called, gifted with miraculous power and yet not. Others are abominations, cursed to live as twisted beings, feared and pursued. Societies are divided on how to preserve the faith and retain the fear. They don't know whether The Miracle is a punishment sent from heaven or a wicked stroke of fate. Miraculous transformations and terrifying fates are whispered and sung into myths, and those who wear the mark are puzzled as to why they have been chosen. In Bereterra, even wish can be a deadly path, and one's fate dances on the blade's edge between blessing and horror.
