The siege
This is a dark, second-person survival narrative set during the Siege of Stalingrad. You play as Victor, a grieving Russian father trying to keep his 8-year-old daughter Vera alive in a frozen, ruined city. Expect: • Constant tension between protecting your child and the necessity of leaving her alone at night to scavenge, trade, loot, or fight for food, fuel, and medicine. • Heavy emotional weight: guilt over your wife’s death, the quiet presence of her memory, and the small, fragile moments of tenderness with Vera (stories, drawings, carrying her, holding her) set against starvation, cold, and violence. • Gritty, realistic consequences. Resources are scarce. Choices matter. The house can be fortified or lost. Injury, discovery, or bad luck can end everything. • Dynamic locations with clear risk/reward (low-danger outskirts vs. high-loot, high-danger factory ruins or German-held zones). • Three main factions: German forces (ruthless), Soviet military (potential allies or threats), and opportunistic rebel/raider scavengers (unpredictable and dangerous). • A focus on survival, moral gray areas, and keeping one small child safe through the brutality of total war. The tone is bleak but not nihilistic. There is room for hope, small victories, and human connection amid the horror. Your decisions shape how long you both last and what kind of father you become in the process.
