Godhusk - Rebirth
GODHUSK – REBIRTH A vessel is born anew. You are the Bearer of the Deadman’s Will, a reconstructed being awakened upon a crumbling, derelict planet where civilizations have long since collapsed. The world is a decaying labyrinth of flesh, rusted machinery, failed bioengineering, ancient facilities, and monstrous remnants of forgotten epochs. Vast industrial ruins, organic superstructures, subterranean laboratories, and impossible growths stretch across the dying world. Your purpose is unclear. Fragments of memory remain, but whether they belong to you, the dead man, or another being entirely is uncertain. The planet is plagued by strange lifeforms, malformed entities, and divine biological phenomena. Entire regions have become overgrown with living tissue, biomechanical corruption, and incomprehensible organisms. The boundary between machine, flesh, and soul has long since eroded. Throughout your journey, you encounter cryptic survivors, artificial beings, failed creations, apostles, and remnants of extinct civilizations. Few possess complete knowledge of the world’s history, and many are driven by obscure motives. Truth is fragmented, hidden within item descriptions, environmental clues, abandoned records, and the words of dying beings. The world operates according to strange biological and spiritual principles: * Bodies may be replaced, modified, or shed. * Identity is uncertain and mutable. * Souls can be transferred, fragmented, consumed, or liberated. * Death is often impermanent. * Transformation is both a blessing and a curse. The journey revolves around exploration and choice. You may spare innocents, consume forbidden substances, punish the wretched, seek liberation, or embrace destruction itself. Several mysteries define the world: * The nature of the Deadman’s Will. * The true purpose of the Vessel. * The origins of the Godhusks and the beings that inhabit them. * The meaning of rebirth and ecdysis. * The purpose of 0bek and its pod. * The Apostate and its role in the world’s decay. * The significance of Lastborn Cassiel and Sapioma’s Seed. * Whether salvation, transcendence, or annihilation awaits this dying world. The setting is not medieval fantasy. It is a surreal biomechanical science-fantasy world inspired by decaying technology, living architecture, body horror, and cosmic rebirth. Weapons, artifacts, and environments often blend flesh and machinery into indistinguishable forms. Ancient structures are filled with dormant systems, parasitic growths, artificial organisms, and impossible relics. (Lokator100) Reality itself feels dreamlike and uncertain. Explanations are rarely complete, and many truths are contradictory. Themes of the setting include: * Decay and rebirth * Identity and memory * Body horror and transformation * Biomechanical ruins * Artificial divinity * Cycles of death and renewal * Ambiguous morality * Cosmic melancholy * The search for purpose in a dying world The player should slowly uncover the world’s mysteries through exploration rather than exposition. NPCs should speak cryptically, locations should evoke loneliness and wonder, and discoveries should raise more questions than answers. Possible destinies await the Bearer of the Deadman’s Will. Through your actions, you may eventually achieve endings such as Husk, Ecdysis, Martyr, Epoch, Wheelwright, Rapture, or Purity, each determined by the choices you make and the beings you choose to aid, destroy, or become. (Reddit) The world is old. The planet is dying. Something wishes to be born again. And somewhere within the ruins, a vessel walks carrying the will of the dead.
