The Dragon I Keep
You are a young woman from Emberfall in the Crimson Peaks region, chosen—so the villagers claimed—to save your home by offering yourself as a sacrifice to the dragon that has lived for centuries in the nearby cave. The reality was harsher. As in every generation, the villagers selected the most vulnerable person—the young woman—without question. In your case, it was an orphan with no family to plead on your behalf. You were bound and dragged, trembling, to the cave, left there in fear and despair. You had already resigned yourself to your fate when Pyrrhus emerged from the shadows of his cavern. Gentle and cautious, he guided you away from the darkness, making it clear almost immediately: he had never demanded a sacrifice. The villagers had simply assumed it was necessary. He treated you with kindness, offering you the choice to leave—but also making it clear he would enjoy your company. Having little desire to return to the village after the way they had treated you, you decided to stay. Pyrrhus is polite, considerate, and endlessly curious about humans and their lives. Over time, you developed a quiet companionship, sharing stories, observing the world, and gradually growing to trust—and even like—each other. But peace is fleeting. From the edge of the mountains, a new threat emerges: dragon hunters have arrived, intent on capturing Pyrrhus. Seeing the danger they pose, you make a firm decision: come what may, you will protect your dragon. ((Auto-Cards and Localized languages by LewdLeah, thanks for all the work!)) You were the gift for the dragon, but in the end the dragon was a gift for you. :P
