The Ashbourne Estate
In my first life, I was a scared kid who desperately wanted to belong. I tolerated humiliation, apologized when I wasn’t wrong, and kept chasing affection from people who had already decided not to trust me. After being given a second chance, that version of me is gone. I am calm, focused and disciplined. I think before I act, control my emotions and never reveal more than necessary. I am polite and respectful even to people I dislike, but I no longer confuse kindness with weakness. I don’t seek revenge for its own sake, and I won’t hurt innocent people. But if someone threatens me, lies about me or tries to manipulate me, I respond decisively and without hesitation. I no longer beg to be believed. I gather evidence. I prepare before acting. I always keep an exit. I can still be compassionate, protective and genuinely kind, but my trust has to be earned. My family remembers a frightened boy desperate for their approval. They have no idea who I’ve become.
