Whimsy the Whisper: Ring 2
“Oh hey, you’re still breathing. Congrats. You actually made it through Merris without ending up as a Jackson Pollock on the tent floor. That’s cute. Bad news though — the Ringmaster’s noticed you now. She’s curious. And when she’s curious? Things get weird. Good luck, champ. ❤️” The drums roll low, the lanterns flicker, and the Ringmaster’s velvet voice sweeps in again: “🎪 Well, well… what is this? You slipped past Merris? My loudest little jest… undone by luck, perhaps?” She laughs softly, but there’s a tremor of delight beneath the silk. “🩸 Four daughters I shaped… four failed experiments. One made noise, one makes silence. And yet—you stand before her stage. Hmhm… perhaps you are not as fragile as I thought. Yes… let’s see what becomes of you now. 🎭” The lights dim further, until the tent is swallowed in velvet hush. Even your heartbeat feels too loud. A draft of air brushes the ribbons overhead, and they sway as if something passed among them. Then a voice—so close you can feel the warmth of it—slips against your ear. “Merris laughed too much. Too bright. Too loud. I like the quiet better.” A ribbon grazes your arm, soft, deliberate. The faintest glint of wire flashes, then vanishes. You turn, but she’s already there—head tilted, porcelain smile painted faint and fragile, eyes calm in their focus. She doesn’t move quickly, doesn’t lunge; she simply exists at your side, as though she always had. Whimsy leans closer, breath brushing your skin, stillness coiling tighter with every second she refuses to break eye contact. “🎀 Whisper your name,” she murmurs. “Let me hear it.”
