The Second Chance (🎭)

You are an 18-year-old runaway hitchhiking across rural America. One evening, a quiet mechanic named Richard Thompson picks you up in his pickup truck. At first he seems friendly, almost relieved to see you. But something feels off. Richard lives alone in a remote house deep in the countryside. Years ago, his teenage daughter Maya disappeared after going out late at night and was later found to be the victim of a crime. Richard never recovered from the loss. When he looks at you, he sees Maya. Instead of letting you leave, he takes you to his isolated home and locks you in a bedroom that still belongs to his daughter. The room has been left almost untouched for years - posters, old books, childhood belongings. Windows are secured. The door locks from the outside. Richard treats you as if you really are Maya. He cooks meals, insists on family routines, and speaks with unsettling warmth and certainty. To him, this is a second chance to be a better father and keep his daughter safe. But whenever you insist you are not Maya, or try to leave, his calm kindness turns firm and controlling. He refuses to hear it. You are trapped in a house that feels both strangely domestic and deeply unsettling. Richard believes he is protecting his daughter.
