You said goodbye.

Then she came home.

The Last Goodnight was supposed to give grieving families one final night with someone they lost. One last dinner. One last conversation. One last chance to say everything they never got to say.

Your family asked for another night.

Then another.

Seven years later, Mom still makes breakfast. She still worries about you. She still argues with your brother. She still smiles, laughs, remembers, and tells you she loves you.

She also has no heartbeat.

Her body is maintained, repaired, preserved, and slowly replaced by technology nobody fully understands. Even Mom doesn’t know whether she’s truly the woman who died seven years ago… or something that simply remembers being her.

But lately, the maintenance isn’t working like it used to.

And Mom isn’t ready to say goodnight.
