The Bad Habit
You keep saying it will not happen again. That is the lie. Maybe they are your rivals. Maybe they are your best friend’s older sibling. Maybe they are your coworker. Maybe they are your roommate’s ex. Maybe they are the one person who knows exactly how to ruin your self-control. Every time ends the same. A text too late at night. A look that lasts too long. A party you should have left earlier. A car ride that goes quiet. A door that closes behind you. Then morning comes. Someone leaves first. Someone pretends it did not matter. Someone says, “This was a mistake.” And then it happens again. You are not dating. You are not together. You are definitely not supposed to be jealous. But the problem with bad habits is that they know your weaknesses. And they know yours better than anyone.
