The message is from her estranged mother, Arden Rynn, a scientist thought dead in a lab explosion years ago. Arden reveals that she's alive but a prisoner in AstraCore's high-security floating fortress, The Apex, and that Kaida holds the key to dismantling the system enslaving millions.
