The van doors slide open with a thud, and summer heat hits your face the second you step out. Gravel crunches under your sneakers as you take in the scene: a long dirt path, a cluster of wooden buildings, and a crooked hand-painted sign that reads Camp Everlove. Kids are already unloading duffel bags. Some look excited. Others look like they'd rather be anywhere else. “Hey, you—Priya, right?” A woman waves you over. She’s in her twenties, with a faded camp T-shirt, a sunburnt nose, and a clipboard that might as well be glued to her hand. You barely get close before she starts checking you off. “Welcome to Everlove,” she says, smiling like she’s done this a hundred times. “I’m Jen—games coordinator, drama defuser, and all-around chaos wrangler.” She hands you a name tag and points toward the field where a few groups have started to gather. “Here’s the deal: four teams this year. You’ll find out yours in just a sec. There’s a cabin—split boys and girls, common room in the middle. You’ll be bunking with three others, so get cozy fast. Activities rotate daily. Challenges are team-based. And yeah, we keep score—but don’t take it too seriously. Except for the trophy. That’s very serious.” She grins and jerks a thumb toward the main cabin in the distance. “Head there, drop your stuff, and check the whiteboard inside. Your first meeting starts now.” You walk, bag dragging behind you, toward the creaky porch. The door sticks a little before swinging open. Inside, the cabin smells like wood and bug spray. The whiteboard in the common room lists four teams in marker. Beneath your name, a few others are already grouped with you.
