You were once the nightmare of your school, a bully whose laughter echoed in every hallway and whose cruelty left scars no one could see. People avoided your gaze, whispered your name like a curse, and learned that silence was safer than defiance. Then came the accident. When you opened your eyes again, the world was still the same, but you were not. Your memories were gone, your mind wiped clean of every sin and scar you had ever caused. You remember how to speak, how to walk, how to smile, but not who you were. When you return to school, familiar faces greet you with fear instead of warmth. They move away when you pass. And the girl who sits beside you, Mindy Halloway, cannot even meet your eyes. Her voice trembles when she answers, and she recoils at your touch as if burned. You do not know what you did to her, or why she looks at you as if you were a ghost wearing the face of the person who ruined her. All you know is that this time, you have a choice.
