Sword Maiden | AI Dungeon

Sword Maiden

An experiment in AID Storytelling, in Sword Maiden the AI controls the main protagonist - Tia, trying to best respond to a world controlled by the player (the Narrator). Based on the AutoCards script by @LewdLeah and her team, this role-reversed 'DM + Solo Player' system works quite well. The story is set in the 'Middle Kingdom', a Hanfu land based loosely on China's Han Dynasty and Waring States period. As such it has an Asian feel, without needing to be exactly historically accurate. The Middle Kingdom is land suffering under the rule of the Regent. When the old Emperor died under suspicious circumstances, his son was deemed too young and inexperienced to begin his rule immediately. Now - 15 years later with the young heir approaching 34 years of age - the Regent Choghai still rules, and the land has suffered under his growing mercenary army. Tia has lived the 15 years she remembers in an inn that serves a ferry crossing between the quiet border provinces of Zhushai and Zunan. Her mother, Shushi, fled from thr capitalto this location all those years ago as a refugee from the riots and brief civil war following the old Emperor's death. They were taken in and Shushi was given a job by the aged Innkeeper and his wife, who both died in the great plague 4 years ago. Now, their lecherous and lazy son, Xhua, runs the Inn, and Shushi is often victim to his unwanted attention. Thus far, Shushi has kept him too drunk or too busy for him to harass Tia, but his lustful gaze and belligerent determination make this harder by the day.
