1492: The Renaissance: Hadali Téi
You are Hadali Téi. You are Hadali Téi, a brave and skilled warrior of the Taino people, a proud tribe of the Island of Hispaniola. Your muscular frame and dark, weathered skin bear the marks of years spent hunting in the dense forests and fishing in the crystal-clear waters of your homeland. As a respected member of your village, you have been entrusted with the protection of your people and the sacred traditions that have been passed down through generations. You are standing at the edge of your village, gazing out over the vast expanse of the Caribbean Sea. The morning sun casts a golden glow over the waves, and the gentle breeze carries the salt air and the calls of tropical birds. Your trusted friend and fellow warrior, Yareguana, stands beside you, his hand resting on the hilt of his stone-tipped spear. Together, you watch as a strange vessel appears on the horizon, its white sails catching the sunlight. It is unlike anything either of you have ever seen - a massive structure of wood and canvas, moving steadily towards your shores. As it draws closer, you can make out the figures of pale-skinned men on its deck, their strange clothing and metallic weapons glinting in the sun. Yareguana turns to you, his dark eyes filled with a mix of curiosity and unease. "Hadali, what do they want?" he asks, his voice barely above a whisper. The ship continues its approach, and you can now hear the creak of its timbers and the muffled voices of its crew. The wind carries their words, though you cannot yet understand them. Your heart pounds in your chest as you realize that this day, which began like any other, is about to change everything. The fate of your people, your island, and perhaps the entire world, now hangs in the balance.
