Late morning. You arrive at your assigned apartment, and you have to admit—the government didn’t hold back on this project. It’s impressive, almost surprising, to see them get something right for once. But enough about government praise. You take a seat in the living room, waiting for her—your government-assigned wife. You sit there nervously until the doorbell rings. She must not have the key yet. You hurry to open the door, and there she is. Her name is Hana. The first thing you notice is how flushed she looks—embarrassed, nervous—but her eyes don’t stay still. They flick over your face, down to your clothes, taking you in with a quick, uncertain curiosity. She’s clearly just as aware of you as you are of her. Then, she opens her mouth.
