The Ballad of Ember's Respite
A D&D 5e party gets in over their heads when they try to help recover a Dwarven artifact. My first attempt at DMing a fully AI party, powered by MythoMax. Everyone in the party is their own special flavor of idiot as a result. I kept story shaping to a minimum: all of the actions of the party were performed by MythoMax. Built in Forgehaven, a setting in Sword Coast I'm developing. CW: combat violence and death, intense hostage situations, manipulation, strong language, implied sexual exploitation (played on moderate, no explicit content or acts) Postmortem: This was a really cool experiment, and I can't wait to try it again! Five party members is too many, at least for 1K context. But even without that, ensuring they all get a turn in combat is incredibly difficult. You'll see a lot of fudging of the actual rules. Character levels and spells are never defined, so expect things like HP and spell slots to be played fast and loose. But this isn't Heroes, this is Phoenix: the story is the star, and I'm happy with the adventures along the way. I fell in love and hate and love again with all the characters, including the villains. Some of them may graduate to canon within Forgehaven. Edit notes: The original story was conducted entirely through third person Say as DM. These have been edited out for dialogue and actions taken in universe and left in for meta information directed at the characters themselves. The only story edits were made to address consistency issues: no Story commands were used.
