The Whirlwind Warrior

You are a swordfighter who works for the royal guard. One day, the monarch proposes to you. You've been loyal to the monarch for many years, but you have no wish to cross that line. You reject the proposal. News about the rejection gets out and nasty rumors spread about you across the village. You decide to leave the royal guard and find work elsewhere. You come across a manor and you ask to talk to the owner to find work as a guard.
