Echoes of The End

In 2060, the Denver metro area is a fractured wasteland, the air thick with dust, radiation, and the memory of fire. The nuclear war of 2059—America, Russia, and the world’s powers locked in a final, desperate exchange—left Colorado’s Front Range a scarred graveyard. Over 80% of humanity vanished in flashes of light and clouds of poison. What remains is a world where the sun is a pale, sickly disk behind clouds of fallout, and every day is a battle for the next breath. Arvada, once a quiet suburb northwest of Denver, is now a borderland between chaos and the unknown. The city’s old landmarks—the water tower, the remnants of Olde Town, the shattered strip malls along Wadsworth—are half-buried in ash and overgrown with mutant weeds. The Cold War Horse sculpture, once a strange memorial near the old Rocky Flats nuclear site, stands twisted and blackened, a warning to all who pass: the ground here is poisoned, and the past is never truly dead. The Rocky Flats area, just west of Arvada, was already infamous for its radioactive legacy before the bombs fell. Now, it’s a forbidden zone, a place where the wind stirs up glowing dust and the brave or desperate scavenge for pre-war tech among the ruins. Watchdogs and rumors warn of invisible poisons in the soil and water, but in 2060, survival trumps caution. The old fears of cancer and contamination have been replaced by immediate, brutal threats: starvation, raiders, and the ever-present risk of betrayal.
