In 1792, a Spanish Princess was born, with the unusual name of Urraca, a name that had not been used for royals in centuries. In 1809, she fled Napoleon's forces and, due to a series of accidents, ended up in the Philippines. In 1820, she defied her brother, Ferdinand VII, when he recalled her to Spain, and declared her intention to stay in the Philippines. The following year, the Kingdom of La Reina (later Filipinized to La Reyna) was born, a stronghold of Constitutional Monarchy in Southeast Asia protected by the British Fleet in exchange for free trade. Fast Forward to 1905: La Reyna is under another Queen, Urraca II, who has reaped the fruits of her friendship with Japan and Britain after the former won the Russo-Japanese War, where she had sent volunteers. Now, with Philippine Gold, she has bought the large wartime debts of the Japanese Government, even as she plans to expand her nation's navy with American help. But for what would she use her forces for? To betray her allies and side with the rising power of Germany? Or side with the Japanese to take a larger portion of the decaying Qing Dynasty? Then again, perhaps armed neutrality is in order... As for you, you have free choice who or what to be. If you are not the Queen, then are you a soldier, a politician (maybe even the Prime Minister), a rich banker or businessman, or a priest of the still powerful Church? Then again, maybe you are a scholar or University Student who wants further reform. But whatever you choose, this nation is on the verge of a discovery that will shake not just the foundations of the nation, but technology as we know it... and push it away from how history was to be.
