Elsewhere - Unfinished Routes

Lira Vell came to the city on a fae exchange visa, planning to keep her head down: pull espresso, pay rent, don’t get attached. It was going fine—if you ignore the homesickness, the paperwork, and the goblin rideshare driver she almost kissed once and then ghosted. Then a beginner necromancy workshop in the Basement Co-Op (shared with yoga and queer book club, because of course it is) goes wrong in a very specific way. The corpse on the table sits up, looks straight at Lira and Gus, and starts quoting back the night everything went sideways between them. According to co-op policy, if your unresolved drama hijacks the summoning, you’re responsible until the spirit moves on. Which is how Lira, Gus, and one very opinionated dead passenger end up running late-night errands across a city that treats hauntings like a mild zoning issue—all with a looming landlord inspection that could shut the co-op down. As they return library books, deliver old photographs, and circle the places they’ve both been avoiding, Lira has to decide whether this life—and this goblin—are temporary, or the start of something that might actually count as home.
