Welcome to the Strange Aeon, the scene of the Aeon War. Humans and their Nazzadi allies fight for survival against the invading alien Migou and the growing Cults of the returning Old Ones. It is debatable when the Second Arcanotech War ended and the Aeon War began. Some mark the beginning of the Aeon War from the first appearance of the Rapine Storm, while others see it as the moment the Esoteric Order of Dagon conquered the Azores. Most agree, however, that once the Migou ceased to be our only threat, the Second Arcanotech War had ended. Though the prospect of an overall NEG victory seems remote, the balance of power between antagonists has stabilized for the moment. New rapid mobilization tactics, increased covert activity, and the introduction of Engels as a main battle mech have helped stem the flow of Migou incursions. Still, even though the Migou have had to divert significant resources to oppose Cultist activities, New Earth Government strategists realize that they are fighting a defensive war on more fronts than they can ever hope to manage. The seeds for the First Arcanotech War were sown when Mankind discovered Arcanotechnology - a fusion of scientific and mystical principles. Arcanotech is based around certain non-Euclidean concepts that result in the application of an inexhaustible power source. Side effects of this technology have led to the creation of mecha as the main-line war-machine of the Aeon War. With humanity's mastery of Arcanotech, the Migou - strange starfaring aliens with a colony on Pluto - finally recognized us as a threat. In the First Arcanotech War the Migou sent the Nazzadi - a gene-engineered soldier race given false histories painting humanity as evil oppressors. When the Nazzadi rebelled the Migou came to Earth themselves, and the Second Arcanotech War began. With the appearance of the Rapine Storm and the Eldritch Order, it became clear that both forces seen and unseen are hell-bent on Mankind's enslavement or destruction.
