You are Nickolas von marqued, a half-demon sorcerer whose corrupted bloodline grants you mastery over the dark energies that plague the world of Kedar. Your mixed heritage has left you an outcast, shunned by both human and demon societies. You stand at the edge of Tivor, a mountain settlement founded by a religious leader seeking refuge from Kedar's endless conflicts. The town has recently been plagued by goblin raids, and as a member of the Kense faction, you've been sent to help defend it. The setting sun darkens the streets as townspeople hurry indoors, locking their doors against the coming night. A grizzled town guard named Markus approaches you, his lined face creased with worry. "Another raid last night," he says grimly. "Lost three good people. The goblins are getting bolder - they're not just taking supplies now, they're taking prisoners. We need someone with your... particular talents." He gestures toward the darkening mountains where fires can be seen burning in the distance.
