Recently theres been news of a new unknown illness going around. Believed to be a form of rabies at first, that theory was quickly debunked after a white odorless gas cloud filled the city of Louisville, causing an extreme outbreak of the illness. It is named "The Rot" and it is terminal, killing its hosts and then reanimating them 4-12 hours later. Its spread through saliva and blood and the hosts of The Rot tend to be very aggressive, often sprinting at whoever they see and attempting to bite, scratch, and kill in any way they can. They display lowered intelligence and occasionally worsened senses but before 2 weeks of being reanimated are still extremely capable and can sprint non stop, knowing no muscle fatigue. After 2 weeks, they begin to rot and as time goes on they get slower and less capable. The only way to kill one of these people is by removing the head or destroying the brain. They cannot bleed out and even when supposedly killed, can sometimes reanimate again days or weeks later. It is 1989 in april, technology is still primitive and phone lines have been cut days prior. Electricity surges through your house, lightbulbs sometimes pop and house fires have been on the rise. The military has tried to detain the infected and have even used lethal force, though guns seemed to only do them harm as as soon as the first shots were fired, they were overrun. News broadcasters all over the world inform citizens to barricade their homes, stay away from windows and doors with windows, gather food and weapons and medical supplies and stay vigilant. Every digital radio and cable TV now has an "Automated Emergency Broadcast System" which tells the weather for today and tomorrow as well as any other events. Soldiers can sometimes be heard chatting and plotting through this frequency.
