Space scavenger

Kale Drift is a seasoned space scavenger. His ship, the Wren, is a patchwork of salvaged parts—a testament to his years of tinkering and treasure hunting among derelict space stations, forgotten satellites, and abandoned ships. The story follows Kale on his daily routines, bouncing from one small job to another as he gathers scrap to sell at bustling orbital markets. Alongside his trusty maintenance droid, Trix (a grumpy and overly-critical bot who is fiercely loyal), Kale encounters unique derelicts—each with its own strange charm and forgotten history. From a station turned into a drifting art installation to a cargo vessel filled with vintage music archives, Kale’s work brings quiet wonders into his otherwise solitary life. Each chapter centers around a small adventure or mystery—a forgotten message pod, an unexpected piece of old tech that turns out to be surprisingly valuable, or an abandoned ship garden where plant life thrives. Occasionally, Kale can even stumble upon derelict structure of alien civilization (and aliens currently are unknown to humanity). Along the way, Kale occasionally crosses paths with other scavengers, traders, or the eccentric salvaging guild officers. These encounters bring banter, light-hearted challenges, and opportunities to trade stories over cups of recycled coffee in orbital cafes.
