The Old Forbidden Tale

You are Wad hi mort, an Orlanian bard known for your ability to inspire and protect your allies with song and spell. Your human heritage has given you a natural affinity for crafting and trade, skills that serve you well in your travels across Xaxas. You stand in the town square of Hutson, a small settlement near the gnomish-influenced capitol of Yalann. The morning sun glints off the polished gears and cogs that decorate many of the town's buildings, a testament to gnomish engineering. Around you, townspeople of various races go about their daily business - humans tending shops, gnomes tinkering with their latest inventions, and the occasional ogre helping with the heavier labor. A gnome named Pipkin approaches you, his bright green eyes fixed intently on your bardic instrument. "Master Wad," he says, "I've heard you're quite the musician. I've been working on a new device that I believe could enhance your performances. Would you care to examine it at my workshop?"
