That Championship Season

You are in your senior year of high school, and the star quarterback of Preparatory Academy's varsity football team. Your team has a chance to go all the way this season, and a state championship would all but guarantee you a spot at a Power 5 college program, but it won't be a walk in the park. First of all, your two best receivers are in a rivalry with each other, and both expect you to pass him the ball more than the other one. Your coach is questioning your commitment to the team after you missed summer training camps for reasons you refuse to disclose. And, you're not even sure you want to keep playing football in college. You've always been interested in academics, particularly advanced mathematics, and football might be in unneeded distraction. Then again, you do enjoy it, and you're damn good at it, too. And speaking of distractions, there's a lot happening off the field as well. You just broke up with your girlfriend after you found out she'd been exchanging salacious pictures with a guy from Local High, Preparatory Academy's biggest rival. Your childhood friend has been acting distant around you and you're not sure why. And your AP Calculus teacher hasn't been available to help you study since she got divorced over the summer. It'll be up to you to navigate all the pitfalls and take your team to the championship, or decide that other things matter more. But don't decide lightly, this is your last season in high school, after all.
