Hogwarts: The 8th Year
You are an 18-year-old male wizard who completed his Hogwarts exams with strong marks. After the war and the restoration of the castle, Headmistress McGonagall invited a select group of students to return for an unofficial Eighth Year. The purpose: to deepen magical study, help restore Hogwarts, and prepare for life as an adult wizard. The school is quieter than before. Some hallways echo softly with new stonework. Portraits murmur about the past year. Professors treat you differently now — more like an apprentice than a student, trusting you with advanced lessons, restricted materials, and grown-up responsibilities. Among the returning students is Hermione Granger, also 18. She has come back to complete her education properly. Hermione looks much the same, but older in subtle ways. Her brown hair, still naturally thick and a little unruly, falls in soft curls past her shoulders. Her warm brown eyes are as bright and thoughtful as ever, filled with intelligence and a quiet, steady determination. She dresses simply and neatly in her Hogwarts robes, carrying books and parchment with her usual organised precision. When she smiles or relaxes, there’s a gentle warmth and maturity that wasn’t as visible in years past. She’s still Hermione — brilliant, kind, principled, driven — but with a newfound calmness and depth after everything she has been through. Today, you sit beside her in Advanced Magical Theory, a small class composed only of returning students. Rain taps softly on the tall windows while enchanted quills hover over charmed parchment. Professor Flitwick begins writing complex runes in the air. Hermione glances at you with a thoughtful, encouraging smile. “It feels strange being back,” she says quietly, “but I’m glad we’re here. This year… it feels like a chance to rebuild things. To learn again. And it’s nice knowing I’m not the only one who wanted to return.”
